Requirements for Freshman Applicants

Admission to the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine is the responsibility of the Admissions Committee. In evaluating applicants, the Admissions Committee considers academic qualifications, personal traits, and potential for success in medical school as evidenced in academic records, the results of the Medical College Admission Test, personal statement, and letters of recommendation, personal interviews, and health related experiences. There is no discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, color, race, religion, physical disability, economic status, political ideology, or national origin.


Documents for Admission

  1. The Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine (UCCSoM) participates in the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). Therefore, all applicants must file an AMCAS application www.aamc.org/amcas.

  3. A non-refundable processing fee of $200.00 is required.

  4.  An official transcript from each college or university attended for all undergraduate and graduate studies must be sent directly to the Admission Office.

The transcripts must evidence that the applicant has a general academic index of 3.00 and a science index of 3.00 or above on a scale where A=4.0.  A baccalaureate degree is highly recommended.  Applicants must approve a minimum of ninety (90) credits at an accredited institution of higher education university or college.

    1.   Official results of the MCAT (www.aamc.org/mcat) scores taken within two years before to application. The Admission Committee will only consider MCAT scores of 494 or above. (The January 26, 2024 MCAT score will be the last one considered during the application cycle.)

    2.   A minimum of two letters of recommendation is required from science professors or a letter from the Pre-medical Committee uploaded through the AMCAS application.

    3.   Students are required to be fully bilingual in Spanish and English. Since course work could be in either language.

    4. It is the applicant’s responsibility to see that the Admissions Office receives all the documentation and completes their requirements including AMCAS, no later than January 15th.   Transcripts and payment must be sent to our postal or email address:

    5. Once the student is admitted to the Program, must pay a $100.00 non-refundable deposit to assure a place in the SoM.

    6. Methods of payment will be only by money order or ATM (without credit card logo). For electronic payments (wire transfer and others) you must contact the Finance Office directly.
