The Universidad Central del Caribe Office of Graduate Medical Education offers a one (1) year preliminary and a three (3) year categorical residency training program in Internal Medicine. The program has full accreditation by the American Council of Graduate Medical Education. The preliminary program is suitable for those who hold advanced placements in programs which require the preliminary year. The categorical program is suitable for future internists or those who plan to pursue a subspecialty here or in continental USA. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Internal Medicine boards for which we have high pass rates.

The program is housed in the Dr. Ramon Ruiz Arnau University Hospital, on the same grounds as the University.

The program director is Dra. Sarahi Rodriguez Pérez, who together with the staff of board certified faculty physician’s guide and supervise the residents through the competency based training program. Ms. Karen Rivera available at karen.rivera@uccaribe.edu is the program coordinator.

The Office of Graduate Medical Education oversees that the program is in full compliance with ACGME standards, is directed by Dr. Frances Garcia Contreras.

Applicants must be fluent in Spanish, be graduates of an LCME accredited School of Medicine or a accredited school of Osteopathic Medicine. Foreign graduates must hold valid ECFMG certificates to be eligible.
