Dr. Nawal Boukli Elected Executive Board Member of SEASR Association of Core Directors

 

Dr. Nawal Boukli, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology and Director of the Proteomics Facility at UCC, has recently been elected Executive Board Member of the Southeastern Association of Shared Resources (SEASR).  The Southern U.S. regional group of professionals from research-focused institutions share an interest in the development, operation and advancement of innovative, technologies and services in core facilities.

The SEASR is a chapter of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) which promotes efficient laboratory practices, biotechnology advances and federal and financial oversight. The topic areas of the SEASR include, playing a leadership role in networking regional (as well as national) in a range of institutions, enhancing the visibility of the SEASR/ABRF with funding agencies that support the development, acquisition and application of core facility research resources; building or strengthening strategic educational, research, technology, such as workshops on improving management of core facilities at the institutional level and providing education on standard business management skills to core directors.

Among the objectives and goals presented by Dr. Boukli to the SEASR Executive Board (EB), are to facilitate communication about core facilities in order to identify available resources as well as organize scientific and educational activities and discussion forums among SEASR community.

Dr. Boukli will continue to promote the power of Proteomics research and quotes: “Proteomics stands tall because its twinning with many disciplines to join the multi-OMICS family such as Neuro-Proteomics, Proteo-Cellomics, Stem Cell Proteomics, Metabolomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics related Bioinformatics and Proteomics related Biomarker Discovery. As part of the EB, Dr. Boukli will be invited to attend, participate and co-organize the SEASR annual conference.
