UCC Students Participate in Exchange Program in Colombia

Three students of the Medical Images Technology Program at the Universidad Central del Caribe (UCC) act as ambassadors of our Institution in Bogotá, Colombia. This visit was made possible by an invitation from the Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina (FUAA), Bogotá Campus, as part of a collaboration agreement between both Institutions.  The main goal of this agreement is to develop friendship ties and share resources, knowledge and academic practices.

Students participating in this first exchange are (first row, from left to right in the photo): Enrique Torres, Jorge L. Rodríguez and Edgar A. Miranda.  During their 30-day stay, the students will participate in clinical practice in some of the most prestigious health centers in the Colombian capital, such as: Hospital Mayor Universitario Mederi and Instituto de Ortopedia Infantil Roosevelt.  In addition to the clinical experience, our students will be gathering data for three research projects in which they will compare professional practices in Puerto Rico and Colombia.  These research projects are related to issues such as: availability and use of lead protection devices, secondary radiation to neonatal patients and laws and regulations in the medical images field.

Our students have been received by the FUAA’s main authorities and personnel and have joined the academic, cultural and social institutional agenda.
