Over $500,000 in Financial Aid to Students

The Universidad Central del Caribe (UCC) is committed to giving support to its students so that their dream of becoming health professionals can come true. With its stated objective of awarding scholarships and stipends to students in all academic programs, the UCC has specialized resources that identify external sources of funds. Through the proactive identification of federal funds, as well as the noble gesture of philanthropists who have lent their support to our fundraising activities, we have been able to achieve the awarding of scholarships to students of Medicine, Medical Imaging, Biomedical Sciences, and Substance Abuse Counseling.

For the recently commenced academic year 2011-2012, we have awarded a grand total of $547,762 in student scholarships. This amount comes from various sources and initiatives, including the following:

–        Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funds – Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students:

–        Medical Program – $152,052

–        Medical Imaging Program – $38,043

–        Substance Abuse Counseling Program – $3,459

–        Annual Funds from Federal Work Study Program (FWSP): $100,000

–        Legacy Society Scholarship Fund – $54,000

–        Stipends and payment of enrollment registration fees to students in the Biomedical Sciences Program – $200,208

In each academic year, there has been an increase in the total amount of scholarships awarded in all of the programs. Please see the following information illustrating the above.

The UCC greatly appreciates everyone who has contributed to these efforts and calls on all its constituents to continue providing support to ongoing initiatives that benefit our institution’s reason for being: The Students.
